Motor Insurance
Overview
Vehicles support daily life, business operations, logistics and commercial activity, but they
also create exposure to accidents, damage, theft, fire, third-party injury and property loss.
Liberty & Trust helps clients understand these exposures and explore appropriate motor
insurance arrangements through the insurance market.
The right policy depends on the vehicle, ownership, use, driver profile, location, value,
claims history, selected limits and insurer requirements. We can help you compare the
relevant options and understand the key conditions before you proceed.
Understanding Your Needs
The right motor insurance depends on the vehicle, how it is used and the risks you need to consider. We help individuals and businesses understand their requirements and navigate the available options before arranging suitable cover.
Optional benefits and extensions
Depending on the insurer, selected policy and agreed wording, clients may be able to request additional benefits or extensions such as windscreen or glass cover, towing or roadside assistance, personal accident benefits, loss-of-use or courtesy-vehicle support, flood or natural-peril extensions, third-party property-damage extensions and other agreed benefits. Availability, limits, deductibles and exclusions vary and must be confirmed before purchase.
Who Is This For?
The appropriate cover depends on the vehicle, its use and the specific risks involved.
Motor Insurance may be relevant to:
- Private vehicle owners
- Businesses with company vehicles
- Commercial vehicle operators
- Businesses managing vehicle fleets
- Motor traders
- Organisations with specialised vehicles
Policy types and
exact descriptions
Third-Party Motor Insurance
Third-Party Motor Insurance provides protection for the insured’s legal liability to third parties arising from the use of an insured vehicle, including specified third-party bodily injury, death or property-damage exposures, subject to the applicable law, policy limits, conditions and exclusions. It does not generally provide cover for damage to the insured vehicle unless the approved policy wording specifically states otherwise.
Third-Party, Fire and Theft
Third-Party, Fire and Theft combines third-party liability protection with specified cover for the insured vehicle in the event of qualifying fire or theft, subject to the policy’s definitions, security requirements, limits, excesses, conditions and exclusions. It is generally broader than third-party-only cover but narrower than comprehensive motor insurance.
Comprehensive Motor Insurance
Comprehensive Motor Insurance may combine third-party liability protection with cover for specified loss of or damage to the insured vehicle arising from insured events such as accidental damage, collision, fire or theft, subject to the policy wording, valuation basis, excess, limits, conditions and exclusions. Additional benefits are not automatic and must be confirmed in the quotation or policy schedule.
Commercial Motor Insurance
Commercial Motor Insurance is designed for vehicles used in connection with business activities, including eligible company cars, delivery vehicles, service vehicles, taxis, buses, trucks and other approved commercial uses. Cover may be arranged on a third-party, third-party fire and theft or comprehensive basis, subject to the declared use, vehicle type, driver requirements, operating territory, policy limits and insurer terms.
Fleet Motor Insurance
Fleet Motor Insurance provides an arranged insurance programme for multiple eligible vehicles owned, leased or operated by a business or organisation. Depending on the insurer and agreed structure, the programme may provide consistent administration, consolidated reporting and agreed cover terms across vehicles, subject to vehicle schedules, driver controls, valuation, limits, excesses and policy conditions.
Motorcycle and Tricycle Insurance
Motorcycle and Tricycle Insurance provides cover for eligible motorcycles, tricycles and other approved two- or three-wheeled vehicles. Depending on the selected policy, cover may be arranged on a third-party or broader basis for specified liabilities, loss or damage, subject to vehicle use, rider or driver requirements, territorial limits, safety conditions, policy limits and exclusions.
Specialist and Non-Standard Vehicle Insurance
Specialist Motor Insurance arrangements may be considered for eligible vehicles with unusual value, modification, use, construction, age or operational requirements, including selected specialist, vintage, high-value, adapted or purpose-built vehicles. Acceptance and terms depend on risk assessment, valuation, documentation, security, usage and the availability of an appropriate approved insurer.
Motor Trade and Road-Risk Arrangements
Where available through an appropriate approved insurer, Motor Trade or Road-Risk arrangements may provide cover for eligible businesses that handle, test, move, demonstrate, repair, service or otherwise operate vehicles as part of their business activities. The scope depends on the declared trade, permitted drivers, vehicle custody, operating territory, security controls and approved policy wording.
